Medicinal chemistry is a stimulating field as it connects many scientific disciplines and allows for collaboration with other scientists in researching and developing new drug candidate. In the field of medicinal chemistry, Chemkovil focus on identifying novel hit molecules for selected drug targets.
Natural product is any organic compound that is synthesized by a living organism. Natural products have high structural diversity and unique pharmacological or biological activities due to the natural selection and evolutionary processes that have shaped their utility over hundreds of thousands of years. Chemkovil is engaged in the isolation of pure natural organic molecules from selected natural material (plant, marine material, bacteria etc).
The Nanoscience and Nanotechnology was established in may 2017 at the Chemkovil to accomplish the goal of enhancing advanced research in the areas of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. The leading area of research includes nanomaterials, nanotechnology, nanocomposites, nanoelectronics, nanofabrication. In addition to research, the centre also conducts training and awareness programes, and developments of Nanoscience on various themes of national interests.
